Download Essentials of Epidemiology in Public Health 4th Edition Pdf Book Description:
Essentials of Epidemiology in Public Health, Fourth Edition combines theory and practice in presenting traditional and new epidemiologic concepts. Broad in scope, the text opens with five chapters covering the basic epidemiologic concepts and information resources. A significant emphasis is placed on study design, with separate chapters devoted to each of the 3 primary analytic designs: experimental, cohort, and case-control studies. Full chapters on bias, confounding, and random error, including the use of statistics in epidemiology, make sure that students are well-equipped with the essential information to translate the results of epidemiologic research studies. Up-to-date examples in the epidemiologic literature on diseases of public health significance are provided throughout the book.
• New examples and the latest public health statistics throughout
• Coverage of the Ebola outbreak involving a comprehensive evaluation of what happened
• New examples that exemplify epidemiological principles such as a greater emphasis on social factors that influence health, such as racism
• Straightforward descriptions of the most recent epidemiologic methods including mediation evaluation, agent-based modelling, and the use of directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) to evaluate confounding.
This is a good text for anyone studying epidemiology.
Each chapter on the various aspects of Epi (ie, Confounding, Effect Modification, Random Error, Bias, Causation, etc) is readable, relatively brief chapters (no more then 20 pages) and very clearly defines the essential details. Each chapter then has a concise (less then 1 page) outline, perfect for test studying or board inspection. Additionally, each chapter has test questions with responses posted in the back of the book. This book even explains the inherent mathmetical principles then most statistic texts I’ve used.
