I understand textbooks are a tool for advice; there are no guidelines for what makes a great textbook because let’s be serious, it is rare to discover a textbook which makes the articles interesting enough to look out for pleasure. These complaints are real, it is not that the material for your CLASS is dull, it’s that this book is just poorly put together.
I was really excited for this class since it is an area that I’d love to work later on, but this book is simply a great book. My main complaint is its redundancy. I feel like the editor only sent out topics for arbitrary nurses to write about, and stuck them in the publication without regard to stream, redundancy, etc.. If I have to read the words,”Community/public health nursing has three/four components…(insert whatever parts each author decides are important)” one more time I would have a stroke. It is akin to reading a new book with each chapter, with the same subject but distinct criteria for what comprises PHN.
Thank goodness my clinical for this course teaches me something, because I am getting anything out of this book. But the kindle version is actually nice, it’s easy to highlight and you’ll be able to read all your highlights on a single page without needing to skip around, and it has a nifty flashcard instrument I haven’t utilized yet, but seems promising. . .yeah no. But I had to get it anyway so what can I perform
